I came down with a cold so I've had plenty of nothing to do today! Which means... *drumroll* Random factoids! :D So here's what I got...
Lucian:
(Pronounced: Loosh-un or loo-shun)
Now, if you look up the definition of a louche (pronounced the same as the first part of Lucian) the definition is: “disreputable. Disreputable or of doubtful morality.”.
I wonder what Rick Riordan was thinking when he named this branch ^_^
Ekat (Ekaterina)
(Pronounced: E –cat)
The only definition I can find for an Ekat is Ikat (it is pronounced exactly the same). The definition of an Ikat is a “technique of patterning fabric”.

Janus
(Pronounced: Jan – us)
Janus (pronounced: Jay – nus) is defined as a “Roman god shown with two faces”. He is the god of “…beginnings, of the past and the future, of gates, doorways, and bridges, and of peace…”.

Madrigal

Most of the branch names are forms of the person that founded them:
Lucian "Luc" is French for Luke
Ekaterina "Ekaterina" is Romanian for Katherine
Tomas "Tomas" means Thomas in several languages.
Janus "Janus" is "Jane" missing a letter, and is the name of the Roman god of choices, beginnings, endings, and doorways
Madrigal Madeleine's name means "great, elevated, magnificent," a madrigal is a song style popular in 1500-1600s
Vesper Vesper was the name of the Roman morning star, and is rather similar to the name of the emperor wo commissioned the Colloseum, a known Vesper stronghold and who was alive until just months before Vesuvius blew: Vespasian.
Speaking of the Madrigals, does anyone remember Madeleine's poem from Storm Warning, written in 1548? The Black Book of Buried Secrets says Shakespeare is her grandson (born 1564, died 1616). Well, consider the fact that All's Well That Ends Well was written in 1604, then look at All's Well That Ends Well 4.3.69 - 72 for a stunning suprise . . .

I thought Lucian was Looshun but I always said 'luc-ie-un (like Luc in Lucifer) (the ie is pronounced like the e in he. The unis like nun) Because it sounded cooler. My dad told me about the Madrigals when me and my sister were talking about them. Oh, hope you feel better!

Hey peoples. Not all Lucians are bad, my friend Ben is a Lucian and he is pretty nice. Sooooo anyway, don't diss the Lucians all the time, just most of the time.

Yeah, they are, but black and white are also spidey colord. How do I know this? I love Marvel and he's my fave hero and I have a bajillion of his comics. I've also read lots too. Anyways, you're right, Lucians aren't ALL bad. Some are, but most are nice.

In German, Vesper means either door or empty, but I can't remember which. Not as interesting as the Latin definition, though.
Did you know that the Roman god Janus has two faces? Just weird. Also, Tomas is I think English and means 'strong,' or 'broad.'
And a Madrigal was a sort of song for the Catholic church. It was only made up of a choir with no instuments.
One more thing. Lucian is a form of the name Lucas, which means 'sly.' That isn't as bad as your meaning, is it?
