I thought it would be grate if we had a festival in support of stopping bullying!! Maybe if we get enough people on here maybe people who do research on anti-bullying could do a story on it something like "Kids team up to show support towords Anti-Bullying" please respond!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!! I've been bullied for seven years straight, and live in one of the worst bullying states in the country (New York) so this is a topic close to my heart. We HAVE to do this!!!!!!

@Cailynn (and anyone else who wants to read this. It's very informative)- Yeah, I love NY, but seriously, several websites about anti-bullying graded its level of bullying with an "F". Most states now have anti-bullying laws, but the one that probably needs it the most right now doesn't. Seriously?! But when I was in 5th grade (I'm now entering 8th), everybody who had my English teacher was required to do, like, weeks of research so we can all write buisness letters to Congressman Steeve Israel about getting an anti-bullying law passed here. We sent at least 75 letters in total, and I put down my address in the letter so Congressman Israel could reply directly to me, and he did! He said that he has been working on it for a while now, and that he did succeed in getting a law passed that will go into effect in year 2013 which requires all teachers, aids, and everyone who works in schools to be stricter when it comes to bullying. It's not quite an anti-bullying law, but it's a step in the right direction. He also said that he is still fighting to get an anti-bullying law passed. So let's keep our fingers crossed.

Nat: Wow. That's alot of letters. My class a couple years ago did a research project on bullying... and the numbers for bullying are HUGE! It needs to end!! Well they should be stricter when it comes to bullying!!!! A person I know was hospitalized because of the bullying. The person kept having panick attacks... and it really scared me. We're really close. But, at my school there's bullying going on. I'm getting tired of the bullying! My best friend used to get bullied... I want it to end! I will definately keep my fingers crossed!!! Including my eyes and my toes and my legs. I hope it passes... I hate seeing people get hurt because of bullying. If I see anything going on in school, I stop it. But I can't do anything when it comes to cyber-bullying. All types of bullying need to stop. At my school there's all types of bullying. I used to get bullied... but I put an end to it. I stood up for myself. And now, no one bullies me. I just want it all to end.. ya know?

Cailynn: Yeah, I totally get what you're saying. Bullying at my schools also pretty severe. I've been physically bullied (kicked, stepped on, etc all by one girl who was never punished), socially bullied (I would often start crying during lunch because a mean girl would constantly disrespect me then), my locker has been vandalized (the person who did it was also the one who made me cry during lunch, and got an in-school suspension. She also put threats in my desk in 4th grade. Happy ending!) and needed to be switched, and many more cruel situations. That's why I think I should write the story: I'm a great writer because I'm on the Writer's Council, and I have enough experience (7 years of experience, to be exact).

in fith grade all my freinds except my cousin and a freind that was two years younger (she didnt go to my school and neither did my cousin) turned on me. they clled me curse words behind my back because i was diffrent. and the girl who started it all was my best freind since kindergarden. the other girls had all been my freinds too so i had none. i ended up making freinds with a new kid who was also diffrent and the same girls broke up our freindship and i havent talked to the new girl since i ended up transfering schools to one where my mom worked at (she is a teacher) and i made freind who are a lot nicer and dont spread rumors about me but i sill live a few blocks away from the girls who spread the rumors about me and the one who started it goes to my church.

Nat: I'm sick and tired of the bullying! I'm so sorry! I wish I would've been there to stop it!! It's just.... It urks me... ya know? I get picked on for having red hair... and then they call me a souless ginger.. and then I go.... You're so totally right! It's so true! Why do you think you don't have one?? And then they stop! Oh and we should make it a whole week thing where everyone writes in pink. I hope you heard the story about wearing pink and since we cant wear pink we'll write in pink. and the story is: this one boy wore a pink shirt to school. All of the students made fun of him and beat him up and called him g.a.y. Then the next day a popular wore a pink shirt cause he didnt like what the other kids where doing to him and to sjow them that justy because you are a guy and you wear pink it doesnt meen your g.a.y. So now on the antibullying day they make the students and faculty members at schools in Canada (im not sure where else they do that) wear pink. And that why we should write in pink for it. And it can be any shade.

@Cailynn: Yeah, standing up to bullies is really fun! Once, there was this really mean girl (she was like the "popular type"), and she tried to get my friends and I in trouble for not wanting a girl to sit with us in the library because we were doing work. So she walked up to me and said "We told on you," and she had just crossed the line. I responded "Well, what's so cool about you? I'll answer that for you: NOTHING!!!" and I just yelled out intense insults and pretty much let off all the anger she I had from her for a few years and I watched as her jaw dropped and silently stared. I don't even know exactly what I said after that first part but it felt awesome, and it worked. In 7th grade (I'm now entering 8th), this guy was always mocking me and insulting my pet ferret (who is adorable!), and many other bad things. Once, in Home Ec we were getting our career binders back, and the cover of our binders were our personal shields, which were collages that show who we are. Mine had a clip art picture of a white ferret, with the caption "My pet ferret, Daisy, is one of the biggest joys in my life." So, the kid is unfortunately handing out some of the binders, and he got mine. He sees the ferret, and immediately runs over to one of his friends to show it to him and they both laugh at it. When he gives me my binder, he's still laughing, and I calmly say "Are you really that troubled? Getting joy from other people's misery, seriously? Are you just that troubled?" and he immediately backed off and said "Whoa, chill, just chill." I calmly responded "No, I won't chill. I've put up with your disrespect all year and I'm sick of it. If you want to continue, you're going to have to face facts: You're troubled." After that he left me alone for almost a week. Then he mockingly said "Hi" to me, and I said "Troubled!" and he again immediately backed off for the rest of the school year (which was about a week). So yeah, it's really fun standing up to bullies! I've done it to someone else a few times, too, but I won't talk about it right now because this is a really long comment.
