I know, I know, it’s been a long time.  Sorry for the delay, but these last few weeks have involved three major trips: (1) Ohio for our son’s graduation, (2) Massachusetts for my college reunion (and a concert I directed), (3) New Jersey for my wife’s college reunion.  I thought the tour was busy.  Whew.

But wow — what a response!

You guys absolutely knocked me out.  I counted 167 writing prompts from 125 writers!  And I assure you, I read every single one, many times.  You cracked me up; you made me shiver with tension.  Do you have any idea how hard it was to choose only one, from all that talent?

I worried.  I agonized.  As I read them all, the bones of a story began to form in my head.  I realized a lot of the entries, not just one, would actually fit nicely into that story.

So I used sixteen of them.
You’ll see those entries in boldface.  (Mine, of course, are in lightface type.)  For those of you who weren’t chosen, don’t feel bad.  Your entries were terrific!  I tried to use as many as possible, but I had to stick with those that fit into this particular narrative.

Ready?  Here goes:

Natalie was freaking out. Not only because she was kidnapped, but mostly because she was sweating.  How could she have known that perspiration was the cost of rebellion?

To her left, Nellie Gomez hummed in her sleep.  Or maybe she was groaning.  Often it was hard to tell the difference.  With a start, she sat up from the cold, hard floor.  Since when are there polar bears in Mexico?

Natalie jumped.  “Good grief, must your dreams be so vocal?”

“Oh ... hey, why so nervous, kiddo? ”  Nellie said, drifting off again.“You did the right thing.  Now get some rest.”

Nellie’s encouragement calmed Natalie just a smidgeon. But as she tried to sleep, all Natalie thought about was the photo for which they’d all had to pose — Nellie thrusting forward that dreadful lizard, Uncle Alistair holding up the large sheet of paper.

And the tiny message Natalie had secretly scribbled on Alistair’s note.  The words that might be the hostages’ only chance at salvation:

RAH TO CHESTNUT TACO.

Surely Attleboro would understand the code.  But would the Vespers notice first?  What would they do if they figured it out?

You did the right thing ...
Nellie had said.

Natalie hoped she was right.  If not, their hours were numbered.

Attleboro

Zooming to one thousand percent, Sinead looked at the message board one last time. She then closed her laptop.  “Guys, this is going to take all our brainpower.”

Dan Cahill looked straight into her eyes, and felt unsure how to word what he had to say. "I —I think Uncle Alistair is losing it.  I mean, he’s a burrito guy, not tacos.”

“Obviously Alistair didn’t write that,” Jake Rosenbloom said.  “It’s a different handwriting.”

“But what does it mean?” Amy asked.

“It’s an anagram.”  Atticus looked up from a legal pad, where he had been furiously scribbling.  “I think I’ve got it.  But I can’t believe it.”

Sinead, Evan, Dan, Amy, and Jake gathered around to look at Atticus’s hastily written message.

Sinead blinked her eyes in disbelief.

CONTACT THE AUTHORS

“This is crazy,” Jake said.

“Unreal,” Evan added.

Sinead shook her head.  “It’s brilliant.  I don’t know why we didn’t think of it before.  They’re the only ones who know where the hostages are.  We must bring them here for interrogation — now!  I’ll use the network to track them down.”

“We can’t!” Jake cried out.  “We’re fictional, remember?  Or so they think.”

Evan nodded.  “If they see us, they’ll freak out.”

“We’ll have to ... ” Amy gulped.  “ ... kidnap them.  In disguise.”

Dan glanced at Amy, eyebrow raised.
“Fine with me.  As long as we’re not the Cliphorns again.”

His sister nodded silently, a glint in her eye, and he smirked.

Show time.

Paris, France.
Hamilton
did not expect to be wearing a top hat and handlebar mustache at the Louvre.  But only hours ago he had gotten the assignment — in the middle of a track meet. People had started yelling at him, but he didn't care.  When the Cahills called, you listened.

His target was in sight, through the glass wall.  But the guy was quickly heading out.  Where was his sister Madison?  She was supposed to be on this assignment, too!

The only hope of capture was to go directly through the glass.  Hamilton looked around him. This was looking bad. The glass and red drops of liquid would surely draw attention. He suddenly heard a scream and ran.  Glass exploded all around, and the panicked crowd instantly scattered.

In their midst was Madison Holt, dressed in a security uniform.  “Smooth work, Ham,” she drawled, hunkered over a gentle, intelligent-looking figure.  “Now, hurry!”

Quickly Hamilton threw Rick Riordan over his shoulder and followed his sister down a side corridor.

New York City.
Out of all the things Amy had to go through because of the Cahill family, she never thought being in a fashion show would be one of them.

Hiding in the bathroom of the Waldorf-Astoria, she took a deep breath and tried not to be scared.  Just because three of the people they needed were in the audience, why did Evan have to ask a Janus fashion designer to put her in the show?  “Because with all that makeup and style, they won’t recognize you,” he’d said.  And then, turning red, he’d apologized for about an hour.

How could he do that? In fact, what he had done was the worst thing besides ... well, anything.

Amy couldn't help but sweat. But sweating seemed oddly appropriate for the business at hand.

She tried the door handle, but it wouldn’t move.  Amy couldn't believe it. Someone had locked her in the bathroom, and this time it wasn't Dan.  Her heart beat faster as tears streamed down her face.

As she prepared to kick the door out, it opened easily and another model peeked in.  “Are you okay?  You have to give the knob a jiggle, that’s all.”

“J-j-jiggle.  Right.”  Amy exited on shaky legs.  As she walked backstage she almost tripped in her high heels several times. She would never normally wear her outfit out, but today was an exception. She finally sighed and walked onto the stage.

There, in the audience, were the three people they’d come to kidnap.  Behind them, Jake and Evan were sitting together.  Wearing ridiculous bowler hats and fake beards.  As the two boys gazed at Amy, their mouths were agape.

Big help they would be.

Jake Rosenbloom had thought that at some point being with the Cahills might actually be fun.  But when Amy had announced that they were going to an annual gala, with dances and people from Hollywood, he couldn't help but groan with disappointment.

Now, seeing Amy in her awesome outfit, he could barely think straight.  The glare in her eye was so alluring.  It showed a different side of Amy.  It showed ...

“Who’s that in the gorgeous gown?” came a familiar woman’s voice from the seat directly in front of him.  “She looks way familiar.”

Jake felt Evan’s elbow in his side, and he snapped to.  In front of them, a head of luxuriantly thick red hair turned from one balding yet wildly handsome man to the other.  Both appeared to be sleeping.  “Huh?” said one, a trim fellow with glasses who immediately hopped from his seat.  “Fashion show?  Um, I feel like some ice cream.  Peter?  Jude?”

As the other guy bolted to his feet, slapping a baseball cap on his head, the woman glared at them both.  “Please, Gordon, you guys can’t leave now — ”

Her sentence ended in a sudden gasp as the ballroom went pitch-black.

Now.

As Jake and Evan reached into their pockets for their vials, Amy was already in the aisle with hers.

In a moment, they were dragging three sleepy-headed scribes through the stage door.

Portland, Oregon
Pushing a hot dog cart in an armadillo costume probably wasn't the most stylish thing Jonah Wizard had done, but it would all be worth it in the end.  In a city where the unofficial motto was Keep Portland Weird, he wouldn’t stand out at all.  Which was crucial in this West Coast hotbed of Jonahmania.

“Get yer red hot armadillo dogs!” Dan cried out.  He stopped by a pile of rubble, looked at a notepad in his hand, and stared at the side of the house in disbelief. Well, what once was the side of the house.  “The festival was supposed to be here.  But the place is gone.”

Jonah snatched the sheet from his hand and groaned.  “Dawg, this is a print-out from the 2004 festival.  Get with the plan.”

As he reached for his phone, Dan clutched his arm.

Jonah froze.  A raucous crowd of screaming fans was sprinting toward them across a grassy quadrangle.  It was a sight Jonah knew all too well.  “How’d they recognize me?” he said, preparing to bolt.

Dan held him back  “They’re not after you, dude.  This is a book festival.”

Sprinting away from the fans, their faces taut with shock and awe, were Margaret Peterson Haddix, Patrick Carman, Linda Sue Park, Roland Smith, and David Baldacci.

“Bro,” Jonah said with a grin, “I think we hit the jackpot.”

Attleboro, Massachusetts.
A loud, theatrical voice echoed through the hallway.  I woke up, my mind blank. Where am I? I thought. What is this place? I couldn't remember getting here. I couldn't remember who the people were in the room. That is when I realized something else. I couldn't remember who I was.

“You’re Peter,” Jude Watson grumbled.

The brown-eyed man moaned as he stumbled down the hallway, propped up between Jake and Evan.  “Oh, sorry, I was talking in my sleep.  I thought this was a dream.”

“It was a good story,” Jake said.  “I write too.  But I prefer third person.  Like this: Ian Kabra hated many things: coconuts, reality TV, the smell of joggers, et cetera. But he could not find one thing in this world he detested more than Daniel Cahill right now — ”

“Knock it off!” Dan shouted.

“Coconut?” a groggy Gordon Korman muttered.  “That’s my favorite ice cream flavor ... ”

Being the longest-legged 39 Clues author, Patrick Carman reached the HQ entrance first.  His steely blue eyes widened in awe.  One by one, the weary group gathered around him.

“What the — ?” Rick sputtered, staring at the vast room full of monitors and high-tech gadgets.  “It’s ... exactly right.”

David Baldacci swallowed hard.  “I guess Roland, Linda Sue, and I can use this as research for our books.”

“But we made you all up!” Margaret said.  “All of this — it’s just ... ” Her voice trailed off.  Her intended final word — fiction — no longer had any real meaning.

Sinead Starling swiveled toward them, turning away from a large-screen image of the hostages.  “Ladies and gentlemen,” she said with a smile, “we have a lot to talk about ... ”

And ... that’s it. Yup.

A cliffhanger.

What’s the ending?  I don’t know!

But you do.  I am so impressed by the fiction-writing firepower of this MB group, that I’m going to leave this for you to take over.  I know you’ll all be full of different ideas, and I can’t wait to see what you come up with.  Think of it as a parting gift, a little reminder of this journey to take with you.  A piece of my imagination to mix with your own.  This is it.  No comments from me, no more prompts — it’s up to you!

I can hardly believe the tour adventure is over.  I feel like we’ve been together on a nationwide journey.  But there’s stuff I haven’t told you.  Did you ever wonder who took the photos and filmed the videos?  Well, it’s the amazing, multitalented team who also made the arrangements and booked the flights and the drivers and the hotels.  In fact, they worked with me on ideas for the blog posts — and kept reminding me when they were due!  They are some of my favorite people on earth and the best in the business — funny and friendly and creative.

Let me introduce you.

First is Charisse, the publicity director, who was in charge of the whole shebang.  She oversaw every detail — not only 75 events but all the extremely complicated transportation and lodging.  One word for her: awesomeness.  Okay, some more words: hilarious, super-professional, and a world-class foodie (just like me).  What other author is asked to shoot video in places like this?

Emma is ne
w to Scholastic, but you’d never know it from the phenomenal job she did — not to mention her extreme patience when I dragged her into presentations.  In addition to her friendliness and skills in publicity, she has become a world-champion nester of books.

http://the39clues.s3.amazonaws.com/others/2012/06/14/Emma_&_Peter.jpg

When I learned that I would be driven (not flown) from Iowa City to Omaha to Kansas City during the tour, I blanched.  But the car duties fell to Chris, who is Scholastic’s sales representative for a huge chunk of the U.S.  How was the drive?  We were laughing so hard I thought we’d drive off the road and into the corn fields.  Plus, she found me a giraffe at the Omaha Zoo and thus became my new bff.

And of course, cheering from the New York office was our editor Rachel, who has made the books top-notch from the beginning.  (Along with our behind-the-scenes but equally mind-boggling editor Mallory, who is revealed on the laptop screen!)  Working with them is a dream come true.

There you are —MB friends, meet my Scholastic friends!  I may not be blogging any more, but you know I will be checking in to the MB.  All my warmest wishes for good health and fruitful lives.  Thanks for keeping me company.  You are the best. See you on the hunt!

So, take it away, Roland Smith. (Trust me, guys, you will be in good hands.) Meanwhile, beware the Vespers.  And Vesper statues!

@InfiltrateRattlesnake1: That would be cool... until somebody realizes the epicness of this why doesn't somebody (me?) post it and have people post new parts to it and see what people come up with?

I am many things.

1. Novelist who does NaNoWriMo in November

2. Janus

3. SlytherClaw (a mix between Slytherin and Ravenclaw)

4. A daughter of Apollo

5. Left-handed redhead

Most of the authors were still in shock from being kidnapped by teenagers and dragged, litterally for some of these authors, but Jude Watson stepped up quickly,"Ok, assuming that you guys are actually Cahills why did you bring us here if you are part of the most powerful family?" This question seemed to be below the belt for every one except the Rosenblooms and Evan. Evan was the first to speak up," even the most powerful people in history have neded help at some point or another," Atticus quickly came after,"In actuallity not everyone in this room is a Cahill. Why were not even sure if you guys are Cahills." Jake was last to speak up and said,"Oh yeah, that is even if you are the actual authors. It's amazing that you can speak clearly about Vesper activity and then don't manage to tell us where the hostages are."
Rick Riordan seemed to figure out the plan first, or at least articulate it," You captured us while in disguises and hope to get the location of the hostages from us? Why didn't you just ask instead of the hassle of kidnapping every single one of us." Rick seemed to be getting death looks from the other authors but the Cahills, Rosenblooms, and Evan just shrugged it off.
These people may actually know where there loved family members were. Dan was the only one who was thinking about Rick's question and after twenty seconds of silence he said,"We couldn't come to all of you at first; remember we're fictional beings made up of all of your imaginations."
Peter whispered to the other authors,"The kid has a point. maybe we should tell them..." Peter was hushed into silence by a few of the other authors who had switched their death stares from Rick to Peter.  Sinead had suddenly become interested in this conversation that had been failing right from the start,"Peter what were you wanting to tell us?"
All the authors now were very uncomfortable in this amazing room they were sitting in. Gordon Kormon finnally spoke up, "We are going to have to tell them eventually why not now?"
Amy tried to ask what Kormon was talking about when she was shushed by the conversation going on between all the authors.
Rick shook his head no and said,"They can't know now; it would reveal too much."
"Yes but if they don't know I'm pretty sure they will figure out. They have a need to know," answered Peter.
"But if they know will they ever trust us again, I mean they actually came to us for answeres." responded Jude Watson.
"If they know we will have given them information and they will trust us. How much more convincing do you need." asked Haddix. The Cahills looked around the room. Jake, Atticus, and evan may not know this but these authors were still Cahills and these arguments almost always ended in blood being spilt. There was absolutely no way to control this now.
"I need more evidence for you to convince me, not them. How are we supposed to know if they are trustworthy?" asked Patrick Carman.
"This is exactly how this started and it's about to be the way it's going to end" mumbled Linda Sue Park.
"So now you're saying this is going to be the end of the Cahills? Now you have gone way to far." said Roland Smith overhearing Patrick.
" We are going to be forced to tell them anyways and if all of you do not be quiet right now I'll blurt it!" yelled
David Baldacci over the other authors.
There was sudden silence in the room and David turned towards the Cahills,"You will not tell anyone else this information and you will not bombard us with questions while we talk. Now the real story begins."

These are awesome books but I have one question. Are any of the authors geocachers? the 39 clues is suspicially like geocaching.

A family torn apart

by many gifts to shower

fighting for their their hearts

all this for power?

"A perfect description of Cahill's"

“Bro,” Jonah said with a grin, “I think we hit the jackpot.”

Attleboro, Massachusetts.
A loud, theatrical voice echoed through the hallway.“I woke up, my mind blank. Where am I? I thought. What is this place? I couldn't remember getting here. I couldn't remember who the people were in the room. That is when I realized something else. I couldn't remember who I was.

“You’re Peter,” Jude Watson grumbled.

The brown-eyed man moaned as he stumbled down the hallway, propped up between Jake and Evan.“Oh, sorry, I was talking in my sleep.I thought this was a dream.”

“It was a good story,” Jake said.“I write too.But I prefer third person.Like this: Ian Kabra hated many things: coconuts, reality TV, the smell of joggers, et cetera. But he could not find one thing in this world he detested more than Daniel Cahill right now — ”

“Knock it off!” Dan shouted.

“Coconut?” a groggy Gordon Korman muttered.“That’s my favorite ice cream flavor ... ”

Being the longest-legged 39 Clues author, Patrick Carman reached the HQ entrance first. His steely blue eyes widened in awe.One by one, the weary group gathered around him.

“What the — ?” Rick sputtered, staring at the vast room full of monitors and high-tech gadgets.“It’s ... exactly right.”

David Baldacci swallowed hard.“I guess Roland, Linda Sue, and I can use this as research for our books.”

“But we made you all up!” Margaret said.“All of this — it’s just ... ” Her voice trailed off.Her intended final word — fiction — no longer had any real meaning.

Sinead Starling swiveled toward them, turning away from a large-screen image of the hostages.“Ladies and gentlemen,” she said with a smile, “we have a lot to talk about ... "

Amy sat next to Jude Watson on the floor and said, "Your the great authors and we need some help."

Linda stoop up as pale as a ghost saying, "B-b-but y-y-your fiction, y-your not s-s-suposed to be alive,or real." She fell backwords and landed on Peter Lerangis. She couldn't believe she was starting to stutter like Amy Cahill.

Dan took off his hot dog hat and set it on a coat hanger along with Jonah Wizard. Hamilton and Madisson where doing push-ups in the corner of the room. Sineads brother was sleeping, and snoring away. Ian, Jake, and Evan all had their eyes glued on Amy in her lovely, red, prize winning dress. To them she was a beutifull model. So Amy, Dan, Sinead, and Jonah where the only ones who would really talk.

Dan walked up between Ronald and Margaret. "Well we are sertanly alive, so are you authors going to be cahills and help us out."

Peter Lerangis spoke up first saying, "Wether this is a dream or not im in and im ready to be a janus, step up, and help the cahills." The rest of the authors stood up and agreed.

David Baldacci was the first to ask, "How can we help?" Hamilton walked behind Evan, Ian, and Jake, and blew a blowhorn. Owww! Screemed Ian, Jake, and Evan. Madisson walked up and said,  "Finnaly you gies are out of that trance," as she high-fived her brother.

Sinead Starling told the authors that she needed to know where the hostages where ASAP, so she could save them before the hostages got hurt. She walked over to Ronald Smith and said, "Your writting the next book so you should know where they are." Ronald Smith said, "Well im not done with the book Shatter Proof, so im not exactly shure where they are."

Dan let out a large groan, "Really, well now what are we ganna do," Dan said. Amy thought for a moment then she had the perfect idea. She stood out in front of everyone and said well tomorow morning we can all help Ronald finish the story, which will tell us where the hostages are. But for now we are all tired and we cant write when we are all tired, so lets get some rest and write the rest of the story in the morning. Everyone agreed and followed Dan to all the spare rooms.

                                               ~to be continued~
please tell me if its good if all the authors could read and reply that would make my day. Please reply Smiley

Sinead Starling swivelled toward them, turning away from a large-screen image of the hostages.  “Ladies and gentlemen,” she said with a smile, “we have a lot to talk about ... ”

All authors looked at each other obviously stunned to be where they were. "Why are we here? How are we here? What on Earth is going on?" Linda Sue Park asked staring at the characters they thought they made up.

Peter Lerangis gasped as his eyes settled on the big screen, which revealed a picture of the hostage. Roland Smith stood up from his seat, finally snapping back into reality.

"When I was asked to write Shatterproof I didn't expect to actually be in it!" he exclaimed.

"I'm sure you all are very confused, maybe we should explain" Sinead said looking over at Amy.

With a nod, Amy walked across the room and stoped at the bottom right hand corner of the big screen. "As you will see here," Amy gestured her hand towards the three words scribbled on the end of Alistair's note. "One of the hostages were cleaver to think of creating a code for us to crack. Thanks to Atticus, we found out that the hidden message was" Dan interrupted her.

"'Contact the authors'"

"Ahh!" All nine authors exclaimed, nodded their heads. "So now –" Dan cut her off again. "You're here and we need you to help us find the hostages"

"What makes you think we will tell you?" David Baldacci asked challengingly. "Ham, send him in" Sinead ordered, smiling an evil smile. Hamilton left the room and came back with a British guy with Amber eyes and a picture perfect smile.

Jude Watson gasped at the site of her fellow Lucian. "Welcome to the Cahill world, my friends. I see I have been disturbed for a reason?" Ian Kabra urged, coming up behind Gordon Korman, who jumped in his seat.

"Sorry Ian, but we are having some trouble with our... guests." Amy smiled, obviously enjoying this. "Authors, all we need is to know where the hostages are and then you can go. Is that too much to ask?" he chose his words wisely, trying not to frighten them too much.

None of them said anything leaving the room with dead silents. Peter decided to break the silents. "Korea, there in Korea" His eyes never left the screen. There was something there he didn't realize until now.

Dan started laughing when he noticed Ian and Amy's expressions fell. "Oh man, this is going to be AWESOME!" he said clutching at his stomach, still laughing. "Peter!" Margaret yelled. "Traitor!" David scolded. Peter stood up in disgust.

"Guys, this is real, this is happening. While we are here those seven captives are with the vespers doing god knows what! I'm not just going to sit here and do nothing. If you were smart you would rethink your choice." he announced.

Once again silent's invaded the room. After a few minutes they all looked at each other a nodded.

"Huddle around everyone. It's time for a plan." Rick declared.

                                                                   ...the next day... Korea...

"This is it" Peter breathed. We were coming up to a dark grey building in the middle of no where, away from the city, away from help if they were to need it.

"Ok everyone, listen up! We don't have long. We get in there, find our people and get out. Simple?" Rick instructed.

"Ready" Amy and Dan said together. "Ready as we'll ever be, I guess" Ian said, sounding uncomfortable to be back in Korea. Everyone else nodded as we got to the only cover we could find, a few trees.

"what are those things near the door?" Dan asked pointing at little black moving things by there entrance. Jude glared at the devices.

"Cameras, Paterick, did you bring the gun?" she asked. The tall man handed her a mini gun which stored black dry-quick ink. When in position she waited for command. "Now!" Amy ordered. She pulled the trigger and the ink directly hit the cameras. "Now GO! GO! GO!" David yelled.

We all bolted for the door, trying to keep up with one another. The place looks creepier up close Hamilton noted. "Groups! Get in your groups, when we get it in we split up." Roland instructed.

Amy, Ian, David, Peter, Linda, Margaret and Roland found there way to each other and same did Dan, Hamilton, Rick, Gordon, Jude, Evan and Paterick. Once ready Hamilton opened the door and there waiting for us was the one and only Wyoming twins.

"Well, well, well look who we have here. Cahills! HA! I thought I'd never see the day. What about you Cheyenne?" A Buff guy snickered, walking towards us with a sharp butcher's knife.

"Yes, I didn't think the authors knew" a girl said coming from behind her brother. "C-c-Casper d-d-don't e-e-e-" Amy's stutter was making it hard for her to stay clam. She took a deep breath and tried again. "Casper, don't even think about hurting any of us" she warned.

"Or what? You'll hurt us? Please!" Cheyenne smirked. Amy took a step and kicked Casper in the ribs with her other foot. Casper fell to the floor, which knocked Cheyenne in the process. They both laid on the floor unconscious.

"Nice move sister!" Sinead's voice was heard through Amy's ear piece. "Thanks, now it's time to split" Amy smiled. The one big group split into two equal groups. One going left and the other going right.

Around the corner, elevators were ready to be used. David pressed the down button and the elevator door opened. We got in and the doors closed. It took us to level 5.

With a ding the doors opened again and we got out. The group looked around to find rows of doors on each side of the wall were named. "Hey look! Over there!" Roland cried, pointing at a sign on one of the doors a bit further down the hall.

Cahill

"Bingo!" Ian exclaimed. He ran to the door only to find a key pad and a card slot. "blast it!" he said, hitting the door out of frustration.

"...what was that?" a familiar British female voice shrieked. Natalie! "Nat!" he called. Peter came up from behind him and slid a card in the slot. "Where'd you get it?" Ian asked, bewildered.

"The twins, one had the card one, had the code" he explained. Peter pressed five numbers on the key pad.

Click.

The door opened and seven confused faces stared at us. "Ian! What are you doing here?" Natalie asked, obviously not knowing what she just said. I looked at her up and down. "Saving your fashion sense! That's what!"

The room erupted with happiness as the family reunited with there loved ones. The authors decided to stay outside the door. "How did you find us?" youun phoenix asked. They all were listening in now.

"Why tell you when we can show you? Guys come in" Ian said, much happier now hat he is with his sister.

One by one the authors revealed themselves to the hostages. "What I'd tell ya Nat? You did the right thing!" Nellie exclaimed.

"Yes, you did. If it weren't for you, we wouldn't be here. But if I could just say, we better get a move on before –" Linda stopped in her tracks when she saw a shadow coming from behind.

"Very good Cahills, very good indeed." the man said calmly. They all turned to see Vesper One only steps away; holding what seemed to be a gun.

"Lets talk" he said.

Cliffhanger! I'll post the ending tomorrow!

Proud athletic Aussie!

Peter was nearly positive the plane was going to crash.

"What's with the turbulence?" Casper yelled

"Let's see: we are flying through a Category-1 hurricane, you haven't fixed the wing, and Ellen has zil training on flying a plane." Vanessa answered. There were three young Vespers in the plane and none seemed to like Casper. There was Ellen (pilot), Layla (co-pilot), and Vanessa (navigator). The intercom buzzed.

"Is everything okay? The plane is doing every sort of trick", a pleasant female voice asked.

"Everyone's stil conscious. Ellen's pilot" Vanessa stated

"Ellen, why are you pilot? You couldn't fly straight if there was nothing blocking you." a familiar british voice buzzed.

"I dont know. Maybe because CASPER ISN'T GOOD WITH JUDGEMENT." Ellen answered. The intercom went silent.

   "Who?" Casper asked.

"Your girlfriend", all three girls teased.

"Ana Kosara is not my girlfried." Casper argued.

"I've seen your diaries. I know youre lying", Ellen stated.

And turbulence was supposed to only affect flying objects...

THE FINAL QUEST

Location unknown.

Attleboro
, Massachusetts.

(Warning, spoilers. Don't read if you haven't read book 3 in the Cahills Vs Vespers Series)
Somewhere in Africa
"WOOHOO!"
Hamilton yelled as their jeep hit the ground. Margaret groaned.
"Do you have to hit the ground so hard?"
"Hey! YOU made him this way." Dan laughed. Hamilton gave them a sypathetic shrug and continued to drive across the bumbpy road. The car swerved and they pulled near the building.
"The Vesper stronghold!" Amy breathed. They walked inside. Two Vespers turned around and stared at them.
"How'd they get in?"
"You forget to lock the door AGAIN! Didn't you Bert?!"
"I'm sorry, Larry! Don't tell me that you've NEVER forgotten to lock the door!!!" They walked right by the two as tehy argued. They saw a see-thru mirrior. Inside, were the captives. Amy rushed forward and kicked at the mirrior. She lurched back.
"OW! THAT HURTS SO BAD." Dan snickered and she glared at him.
"What do we do?" Atticus asked.
"There's the dumb waiter entrance." Peter replies. The authors lead them to the dumb waiter. Dan goes down it. When he opens the latch, the captives turn.
"DAN?!"
"It's DAN!"
"They've found us!"
"How do we get out of here?" One by one, tehy pulled teh captives up the dumbwaiter and raced out of teh building. Dan came last. He started to run when he heard a voice. His heart almost stopped.
"Hi Moonface." Tears came to Dan's eyes. He rubbed the back on his hand across his eyes, before turning. Arther Trent stood in front of him. His father stood in front of him.
"W-What are you doing here?" Dan asked.
"Watching my marvelous kids figure out how to free the captives. I knew you wouldn't give up on them!" Some Vespers ran around the corner. Arther shooed them away.
"Are you vesper one?" Arther nodded. Dan's eyes turned to slits and his hands turned to fists. "You tried to KILL my friends!" He yelled.
"I needed the serum. Your friends safety was your motivation. I know that you do have the serum, though. You've been collecting it...won't you give it to your father?." Arther's eyes were soft, his gaze full of love. But Dan could see his father's eyes flicker from him, to his backpack, where he kept the serum.
"No. No. Not now, NOT EVER." He stepped hard on his father's foot and ran. He could hear his father yelling.
"You're no son of mine!" Arther screamed. Dan wanted to cover his ears, but he kept on running. He spotted the jeep and jumped into it. As they drove away, the voice echoed in Dan's mind. He shook his head and turned back to the hostages.
"What was it like, being captured by Vespers?" Nellie opened her mouth and the story began.

THIS.IS.AWESOME!!Smiley

Sinead Starling swiveled toward them, turning away from a large-screen image of the hostages.  “Ladies and gentlemen,” she said with a smile, “we have a lot to talk about ... ”
"You see we need you to help us find the Hostages, and get them back."Sinead says
Rick Riordan then said,"How is this Possible your not suppose to be real. And why shuld we tell you where the Hostages are suppose to be?For all we know you could be fans dressed up as the Cahills."
Gordan Korman said,"Rick has a point we can´t spoil the ending to the readers. We can´t say the ending to people we don´t know and who CAPTURED us!"
Hamilton then grabbed Gordan by his shrit and said "Look,We are really the Real Cahills and My sister is in Danger. If you don´t help us I swear I will-"
"Hamilton!Calm down.We need to rashon with them"Amy said, she really didn´t want to do this.
"This can´t be real. How are you The Cahills? It´s all supposue to be Fictional"Margreat Petterson Haddix says, asking a million questions, and freaking out at all this. Then the room started to fill with disscusion and Yelling from The Cahills and Authours.
"That´s IT!If they won´t tell us we will just have to make them."Ian said, everyone stared at him in shock. The Cahills came into an agrement and nodded. We had to do anything to save the Hostages, even hurt poor inoccent Authors.Amy thought to herself.
The Authors stared at eachother, worried about what would happen next.
Hope ya like!SmileyYour Stories are the Best Mr.Lergangis, and The others Propmpts were Amazing, no wonder they won the last one.I can't believe thisTTYL!!

Thanks to all of you for your kind words -- and for these amazing responses.  Keep it going.  They're great!

Some of you have asked about the statue in the last photo.  It's top secret, but let's see if you can figure out who it is, using your Cahill sleuthing skills.  Here are two hints:

-- It resides in a state where the residents are rumored to be so stubborn they can stand touching noses for a week at a time and never see eye to eye.  What state is that?  (And no, a state of befuddlement does not count.)

-- Once you find this state, you will locate the statue in a city that has a writers' workshop.  What city is that?

If you get that far, you're on your own.

Can you find the name of the person this statue represents?  The winner will receive the grand prize of me silently falling off my chair in utter amazement.

SIGNATURE backward is ERUTANGIS.  My signature is actually a signarel.
