The 39 Clues: Gemstone Secret Book 1: The Garnet Necklace
Chapter 1
Amy and Dan Cahill were the happiest people in the world right after they defeated the Vespers. “FREEDOM!” Dan and his best friend, Atticus yelled, shooting foam darts at each other. There was a bursting knock. Amy looked at the security camera to see three people in purple tracksuits standing in the door way. There stood eighteen year old Hamilton Holt, and his fourteen year old sisters, Madison and Reagan, sticking their tongues out at the camera. Amy walked over to the door and opened it.
The Holts burst inside. “We have terrible news.” Hamilton told Amy. Madison and Reagan were just minding their own business, playing leapfrog. “It turns out that we have long lost cousins, and they are moving to Boston!” he finished. Amy just got a confused face. “Long lost cousins? Other Holts?” Hamilton nodded. “They are also Cahills. Tomas branch, in fact.” Amy put on a serious face. “Do you know their names?” She asked. Before she finished, The Kabras, Wizards, and Starlings all barged in and yelled at the same time “WE HAVE LONG LOST COUSINS WHO ARE MOVING TO BOSTON!!!” Hamilton turned, shocked. “WE’RE NOT ALONE!” He yelled with a corny face on.
Fifteen minutes later, everyone was calm. Amy got all of their names. “So Jonah, your cousin is named… Courtney Wizard, superstar dancer.” He nodded. “She’s tight, Dawg.” Amy then turned to Ian and Natalie. “Maximum Kabra.” They both grinned. She turned over to the Starlings. “Bailey and Joe Starling.” She pointed to the Holts. “And coincidentally, Bailey Starling’s best friend is…” Before she finished, there as a knock on the door. Dan peeped into the peephole. In the peephole was a girl who was about sixteen, with chestnut hair, sapphire eyes, and a red bandana tied in her hair. “Hello!” She waved.
When he opened the door, lots of people were outside. A charming young man with a heavy book came in first. “Good morning. My name is Maximum Kabra.” Amy gave a cold stare at Ian. “I think everyone knows where you live now.” Everyone replied. A dark toned girl around seventeen came inside. “I’m a WIZ!” she exclaimed. “Courtney!” Jonah yelled, giving her a fist pump. Two fourteen year olds came in. One of them was a tall girl with red hair with natural glowing gold highlights. Her sky blue eyes were intimidating at the crowd. The other one was almost a foot shorter with cocoa hair, ocean blue eyes, and glasses that looked quite fashionable on her. Amy walked toward the taller one. “Bailey! The Starlings are over there, and the…” she was interrupted by the shorter one. “Actually, I’m Bailey Starling. That’s Bridget Holt.” Madison and Reagan then laughed. “I can see why. NO HOLT is puny as you!” Amy then glared at Bailey. “Give me proof.” She asked. Bridget then pulled out two people. The male was around twenty three; he was really tall and had a softball bat in his hand. The female was the same red bandana girl Dan saw earlier. “This is my brother, Nolan, and my sister, May.” Bailey then pulled out a teen that wore glasses, had a rash around his body, and was holding a book. “This is my twin brother, Joe.”
Amy then grabbed on to Bailey. “You are definitely the Ekat. Come with me.” A few minutes later, everyone was with family. Atticus went home, and people were just talking. Amy got a text from her phone.
HIYA! It's me, Vesper one. You might have defeated me, but you don't have all 12 birthstones! If you find them, you hold a great power! :D
Amy then texted back:
What do you mean?
The answer came back quicker then she thought.
I hate explaining things, you'll find out.
She went to do research, which she thought she would never do again for these Vespers…

Chapter 2
Everyone was chatting it out and having some fun when there was a knock at the door. “I’ll get it!” Courtney yelled. She opened it to reveal a sixteen year old girl with Ruby colored hair. “SADIE!” Courtney yelled in excitement. “YAY!” Sadie was jumping up and down excitedly. They then hugged each other. Amy got off of her research (which she rarely does) to see what was going on.
“Hey guys!” Courtney brought Sadie in. “This is Sadie Quincy. My BFF!” Amy then clapped her hands really loudly. “LISTEN UP! I planned a free day for all of the family members to go on. Dan and I will stay home.” Dan then put a frown on his face. “Aww…” Amy then handed everything out. “We’re going out to a fancy restaurant?” Natalie exclaimed. “Exciting.” She perked up. “YAY! WE’RE GOING TO A SCHOOL!” All of the Starlings got into a group hug. “It is really surprising what gets them excited.” Hamilton spoke up.
“We’re going to… A KARAOKE CLUB!” Sadie jumped up. Courtney turned to Amy. “Can she PLEASE come?” Amy then rolled her eyes. “Fine, even though she isn’t family.” The Holts took their pass last. “YES! We’re going to the gym!” May exclaimed. All of the Holts high fived each other. “Ok, EVERYONE CAN GO!” Amy sent them all off. Dan sat slumply on the couch, turned on the T.V., and started watching The Amazing World of Gumball. “How come I couldn’t go with them?” He asked Amy. She then took Dan’s hand. “Come with me.”
Amy led Dan into the Cahill Command Center. “Look at this.” She showed him her research. “It turns out that there’s twelve birthstones connected to…” Dan put his hand up. “Why would I care about your research?” He started to leave. “GET BACK HERE!”
Amy then started running towards her dweeb of a brother. “LEAVE ME ALONE!” Amy then heard grumbling footsteps.

Chapter 3
Olive Garden restaurant. 3:25 pm
“Hello, we have a reservation for three.” The Kabras went off to their registered table, sitting where they pleased. “This is much better then Burger King.” Ian exclaimed. Natalie and Maximum stared at him. “Not that I’ve eaten there.” Ian swapped the beads of sweat off of his forehead.
“Good afternoon, everyone.” The waiter greeted everyone. “What drinks would you like today?” she said as she placed breadsticks on the table.
“Lavender Tea.” All of the Kabras said at the same time.
“Alright then.” The waiter exclaimed as she went over to the fountain. She came back five minutes later with tea that smelled like purple flowers.
“Thank you, madam.” Maximum thanked her with a tip. Then a fourteen year old in a ninja costume showed up at the Kabras table.
“Sup?” Ninja boy greeted everyone.
“Daniel, we all know that’s you.” Natalie replied in her silky British accent.
“K. You caught me.” Dan took a chair from a different table and sat down. “So, how’s life?”
“Daniel, get out” Ian pointed his finger at the door.
“Fine. Meanies.” Dan ran out.

“Are we all set?”All of the Starlings made their own volcanoes, filling them with baking soda. Sinead had the vinegar right at the tip of the cup. “Ready Starlings? GO!”
Every Starling poured their vinegar into the volcanoes, as they all fizzed up. “All of those volcanoes are beautiful, but Bailey’s was the best.” An unfamiliar voice filled the background. Every Starling turned around to see a boy around 4’4, with light brown hair, and jade green eyes.
“ANDY!” Bailey ran to hug him. Sinead, Ned, and Ted pointed at him, all confused.
“That’s Andy Lane. Bailey’s obnoxious boyfriend. Bridget gave him the nickname Andy Lame, but The Holts and I are the only ones that know.” Joe groaned.
Sinead stared at them for a while. “They don’t look good together.” All of the other Starlings nodded in agreement.
“Hey, Joe. Hello, people I never met.” Andy pointed at the Starling triplets.
“That’s Ned, Ted, and Sinead. Our cousins.” Bailey explained. “We’re all Starlings.”
“Not for long.” Joe grumbled.
Sinead stared at the clock. “Should we go soon?”
Ned looked at his watch. “We have an hour left for the space.” He picked up his volcano. “Let’s make things EXPLODE!!!”

Fire in the MIClub 4:04 PM
“Oh my God, it’s Jonah Wizard!” “Is that Courtney Wizard?” “Sadie Quincy, you are my role model!” Huge paparazzi were crowding the Wizards and the Quincy on their way to the karaoke club.
“Step aside; dancing rookies, cuz the C Wiz is coming her way to the dance floor.” Courtney made her way to the floor, and started dancing.
“I’m coming up!” Sadie jumped to the dance floor, following Courtney’s steps. They were dancing The Flamingo for no apparent reason.
“Yo, Jonah!” The DJ yelled. “Want to spit some fire into the MIC?” He threw a microphone at Jonah.
Jonah stared at the mic, then at the clock, then back at the mic. “I’m not sure. I have to leave.”
Courtney’s mouth dropped. “WHAT?” Jonah then grabbed onto her.
“WE HAVE TO GO!” Jonah then ran out with Courtney. Sadie followed.

Um, wait. I saw the part 12 birthstones.... so I realized, Garnet was for book 1. And that Garnet is the birthstone for January. So the second book must be Amethyst. Amethyst is for February. So Book 2 could be like this instead:

Chapter 6
The Gym 4:39 P.M.
The Holts were all gathered at the gym, doing whatever they pleased. Hamilton was lifting a bunch of weights in the air, Madison on the treadmill, May punching the punching bags, and Reagan and Bridget, going to challenge each other at track.
Hamilton and May gathered at the track, watching as they saw both of them get ready. “This is pathetic.” Hamilton muttered. “We already know who’s faster out of these two.” He nodded.
“That’s true.” May exclaimed.
“So we all agree that Reagan’s faster.” Hamilton started to walk to the weights.
“PAUSE, HAMMER!” May yelled at him. Hamilton paused and turned back to the track. “Bridget is super fast. Reagan can have no chance of beating her.”
Reagan started to look offended. “HEY, MAY!” She yelled at her.
Hamilton smirked as he started to walk back towards the track. “I bet 20 dollars that through the whole race, Bridget’s going to see this.” He turned his sister around, pointing to her back.
“You’re on!” May grinned. “Bridget has broken three ribbons. This will be her fourth.”
Reagan and Bridget got into their places. They both got into their positions.
“GO!” Hamilton shouted.
* * *
Five minutes later, Bridget ran across the ribbon first.
“I believe you owe me something.” May held out her hand to Hamilton. He grumbled as he fished out a twenty dollar bill out of his pocket and forked it over to May.
“Thank you, cousin.” She put the money in her bandana. Hamilton checked out his watch.
“Uh oh. We’re over thirty minutes late! We need to get back to the mansion!” Every Holt ran out.

Chapter 7
Amy was trying to calm everyone down back at the mansion. “Where are the Holts? They’re almost an hour late!” Dan cried.
“I knew it was a mistake to send them off to the gym.” Amy mumbled.
Right at that time, all of the Holts burst in. “SORRY!” Hamilton said. “We got absorbed in awesomeness!”
Amy got everyone to be calm. “Ok, so I did some research on the Garnet, and it is said to be in Sicily, Italy. So, EVERYONE GET PACKING!”
Jonah stomped his foot. “Italy? AGAIN???”
May smiled. “I always wanted to visit Italy.” She turned a bit. “My parents have been there before.”
Hamilton nodded. “Yep. Our uncle is Steven Holt.” He pointed at his sisters.
Dan’s eyes lit up. “SERIOUSLY?”
Amy rolled her eyes. “Everyone, FOCUS! Everyone will be in different parts of Sicily. I’ll give out the deeds later. GET READY!”
Everyone was dismissed.

“This is so frustrating!!!” Amy was furious as she stared at the computer screen. “How can I print these out???” Dan laughed behind her.
“My nerd of a sister doesn’t know how to PRINT??? Classic!” He high fived himself.
“I do know how to print, dweeb!” Amy got off her seat. “I just need…” Then Amy saw something she never saw before. “I got it!”
* * * * *
“GRRRAAHHH!!!” Everyone that was packing their stuff definitely heard Natalie’s fury. “MAXIMUM! DON’T TOUCH MY JACKET! THAT COSTS A FORTUNE!!!”
“Awkward.” Joe said in the room across from the Kabras. He was packing up everything from his clothes, video games, and crossword puzzles. Every Starling did the same. So did Andy.
“Does this look cute?” Sadie asked Courtney and Jonah. She, of course, was trying out different fashions for Italy.
“Meh. Not a fan.” Jonah spoke up. Courtney nodded her head in agreement. Sadie got steamed, and then changed.
The Holts were the only calm ones, which is unusual. “Which of my fighting gloves should I bring?” May asked, holding up a few. Nobody answered. “Fine.” She threw a random pair in there.
“Which headband should I bring?” Reagan asked, with two headbands.
“The purple one suits you most.” Bridget replied.
“Technically, she is correct.” Hamilton shot a thumb up. May got offended from behind.
“Oh, so when I asked for what stealth tool I should bring, you guys say nothing. But when Reagan asks for a fashion accessory, you then come to life.” She continued packing.
Amy knocked on the Holt door. Madison came and opened it. “Here you go, people.” She said as she passed around the deeds. “You will be on the North side of Sicily.” She went outside and clapped her hands loudly. “Does everyone have a deed?”
Everyone shot thumbs ups to her. Dan came laughing.
“Hey everyone! Amy doesn’t know how to print!” He blurted out. Amy got frustrated and chased him.

Chapter 9
Attleboro National Airlines 6:02 PM
“Dan, put away your ninja star,” Amy told him. “We are going through the detector.”
Dan was swooshing away his metallic ninja star. “Can’t sister,” He replied. “It’s too awesome!” He then bumped into a large, muscular man.
A large security guard was standing in his way. “No explosives on the bus.” He swiped the star away. Dan went for his gut, but Amy held him back.
“Um, actually, It’s ‘No toys on the plane’” Amy explained. “Sorry about my brother. He can be annoying.”
“Don’t mock me, little boy!” He snapped at her.
Amy looked offended. “I’m a seventeen year old woman,” She replied. “You are so random!” She threw the star on the floor, and then stomped through.
* * * * *
“Natalie, do you need THAT much perfume?” Ian was coughing up lavender fumes.
Natalie nodded her head. They were getting near the human scan. Maximum was laughing his head off. “Look at that!” He giggled. There was a security guard chasing Amy and Dan with a ninja star. The security guard then saw Natalie and her perfume. He swiped the perfume out of her hand.
“HEY!!!” She yelled.
“Don’t bark at me, you bad puppy!” He yelled. Natalie looked disgusted.
She got frustrated, and chased the guard.
Attleboro National Airlines 6:02 PM
“Dan, put away your ninja star,” Amy told him. “We are going through the detector.”

Chapter 10
Everyone was aboard their planes right away. Each branch was in their own plane, doing whatever. Amy thought about the others. Ian, Natalie, and Maximum were probably using perfume and hand sanitizer a mile an hour. The Starling triplets, the Starling twins, and Andy were probably doing math problems on their hands. Jonah, Courtney, and Sadie were probably chilling in first class, nibbling on fruits. Finally, Hamilton, the Holt twins, Bridget and May were slobbing all over the airline food.
Dan was being annoying. He was sobbing over the loss of his ninja star. Amy was curious over the teenager sitting next to her. “Poor you. You look upset.” The teenager said. Amy looked over. The teenager had curly brunette hair and creepy grey eyes. “Hi there. I’m Chrysanthemum.” Amy didn’t like the look in her eyes.
“I’m A-Amy.” She stuttered. She didn’t think straight after that.
“Hello there, Amy.” She went back to her phone. “This is going to be a long flight. Stay strong.”
Chrysanthemum did not look right to Amy Cahill. But she thought about her words. This is going to be a long flight. Stay strong. She hated to admit it, but Chrysanthemum was right. She sat back and decided to relax, getting every thought out of her head.

Chapter 11
“Attention everyone: we will be landing in Central Sicily Airlines in five minutes.” The announcer announced.
Amy and Dan Cahill were packing everything up. Chrysanthemum was still in her phone. “W-Who are you texting?” Amy asked.
“Ah, I see. You’re a stutter.” Chrysanthemum replied. “No worries. I’m just texting four of my allies who are in different parts of Sicily.”
“Really now?” Amy said.
Chrysanthemum nodded. “Yep, my four allies. One is in the North side of Sicily; the other is in the East side of Sicily, and so on.” She got out of her seat when the plane landed.
Everyone then exited the plane.

The Kabras were out on the West side of Sicily. There was a man in a black suit, eye patch on, blocking their way. “Hey, weirdo! MOVE!” Natalie screeched without thinking. He turned around, glaring at the Kabras with his one good eye.
“I’m Emile, for your information, girl.” He gave her an evil eye.

Bailey Starling jumped out of the plane in front of the East side of Sicily. The other Starlings followed. Bailey looked at a girl with buns at each side of her head, with strips of hair going down her hair. She was obviously an over the top girly girl. “Hey, girl!” She followed the girl. “Are you a Cahill?”
The girl looked at her. “What’s a Cahill?” She asked.
“Never mind.” Bailey replied.
“I’m Olivia Anna.” She mentioned. *****
Jonah tried to cover himself from Italian paparazzi. “Hello there?” A boy went up to him.
“I’M NOT JONAH WIZARD!!!” Jonah yelled.
“I’m sorry, mister.” The boy said. “By the way, I’m Herbert.”

The Holts all ran out at the same time. Bridget accidentally bumped into another girl, whose hair was similar to Olivia Anna’s. “I’m so sorry!” The girl said.
“Please.” Bridget replied. “I bumped into you.”
“I’m Primrose, a tourist taking random pictures.” She introduced herself.
Every Holt waved to Primrose. Confused.

Chapter 12
Amy and Dan were walking around, trying to get the feel of Sicily. “So, where would the Garnet be?” Amy asked herself.
“Don’t know, don’t care.” Dan replied.
Amy hit him. “I wasn’t asking you!” She yelled.
Amy Cahill still had a lot running through her mind. She needed to find the Garnet. But… what if somebody else finds it? Another Cahill? She doesn’t know some of the Cahills on the search for the Garnet. But she was also worried since two of them aren’t even Cahills! She would be super worried if Andy and Sadie had something to do with this.
But it wasn’t all about the Garnet and all of the other Cahills. She wondered what was up with Chrysanthemum. “Hey, Amy!” Dan yelled.
“What do you want, dweeb?” Amy got out of her daydream.
Dan held out a chain he found on the floor. “Look at how black and lifeless the chain looks!” He showed it to his sister.
Amy took the chain. It was black… and what was weird was that she couldn’t feel the chain at all. She stroked her hand through the chain, but she felt nothing. “Where did you find this?” She asked Dan.
Dan took out a slip of paper, and then pointed at a spot on the floor. “I found it over there with this note.” Amy swiped the paper from him.
Amy gasped as she read this note.
Attention Cahills,
What you are holding is the chain of the Garnet Necklace. You might not be able to feel it, even though it’s on your hands. That means that you are not the possessor of the Garnet. The possessor is the only one that can feel the actual chain in their hands. So go find the possessor!
And beware of Vespers.

“Not at all.” He replied.

Chapter 13
Amy put the chain back in her bag, then took out a device. “We can both find the Garnet with this thing.” She turned it on. “The Garnet is in Central Sicily!”
Dan then looked outside, with a weird face on. “Is that it over there?” Dan pointed to a shining stone sparkling a rusty purple and red on a building.
Amy nodded. “That’s it! Nice eye, Dan!”
A couple of hours later, Amy and Dan got the Garnet out of the hole in the building. They both couldn’t feel it. “Yep, this is it.” Amy nodded.
Dan got confused. “But now we have to find the Garnet possessor.”
Amy forgot about that. “Oh, right.” They then set off for Western Sicily.
Amy put the chain back in her bag, then took out a device. “We can both find the Garnet with this thing.” She turned it on. “The Garnet is in Central Sicily!”

The Kabras were trying to hunt for the Garnet themselves. “Why does this take forever???” Maximum put his glasses in place, and put all of his hair in his cap.
“You should have been in the clue hunt.” Ian replied. Natalie then got shocked.
“Hey, is that Amy and Dan?” Natalie pointed. Ian and Maximum looked shocked as well.
Dan had the Garnet, while Amy had the chain for the Garnet. “No time for questions! Put these in your hand now!!!” Dan swiped the chain from Amy and put the Garnet and chain in Ian’s hands.
“What the heck, I can’t feel this stupid Garnet, and even the chain!” Ian yelled in a British accent.
Maximum looked confused. “Give me that!” He took both items and put them in his hand. “Well, I need to take off my gloves.” When Maximum did so, he put on quite a shocked face. “What the fail is this?”
Natalie then took off to take the Garnet. “I can’t feel this thing! What’s going on?” She complained.
Amy shook her head. “So you don’t possess the Garnet as well.”
