Zayn’s POV I saw in the limo with my mates who were all talking about the latest concert in Orlando, Florida at the Amway Center. Don’t get me wrong I was totally excited about it, I just didn’t feel comfortable. I didn’t know what it was, just some awkward tingly feeling in the back of my head. “Zayn, are you all right, mate?” Harry asked, laughing at something Niall had said, but looking at me concerned. I wasn’t usually so quiet.
“I’m fine, just thinking.” I waved him off and he went back to the conversation. Since being in One Direction, I felt totally at home with the guys and loved my new life and fans. But my biggest ‘what if’ was; what if I had never become famous? Where would I be? Still in high school or in college? I didn’t know but I liked where I was, even if I was feeling a bit lonely. “Come on mate! Stop with the sad faces, it’s time for our concert!” Louis jumped up and down and slapped my arm. I forced a smile. “Well come on then!” I said. Alex’s POV:
I sat in fifth period science, I was so bored. Mrs. Moore sat at her desk reading a magazine. Since it was the last week of school, nobody was doing anything. I heard some girls sitting behind me talking about this boy band One Direction.
Zoe was actually forcing me to go to their concert tonight. I was expecting to be the loner in the background who just sat there while as usual Zoe danced around like a freak. I really didn’t get it.
How does someone get famous anyway? Like, One Direction was just a group of boys who are talented, but every single girl in school was drooling over them like they were the last pieces of bread on the entire either. Lately I’ve just been super happy I was about to graduate. “Hey, Al, ready for the concert tonight?” Zoe slid into the chair next to me and I looked up from my vacant staring at the black table.
“Yep! I can’t wait!” I smiled, I knew my cheeriness wasn’t going to last. Zoe seemed to realize it too. Her smile faded and she sighed.
“Come on, Al, I know you don’t like them yet but you’ll love the seats. I hope one of them winks at me. That would be the best day of my life.” Zoe gazed at the wall sighing dreamily and I couldn’t help but role my eyes.
“Okay, I get it. Now please, I am about to get so bored that I might die. This conversation is only going to go downhill from here; it’ll be me just sitting while you go into dreamland. Now snap out of it.” I said and put my head on the desk, I felt like whining. When would this day end? “Fine, I’ll put you out of your misery,” She rolled her eyes and walked away. Zoe was my best and only friend, and has been for the last four years. I had to deal with it. I live with my Dad and step-mom, Sera doesn’t like me and can’t wait for me to be gone and off to college.
Once the day was over I was so happy I wanted to cry, but I would just be being melodramatic, I did pump my fist for a second and then ran to my car, ready to go to work and not deal with school.
I’ve worked at this record company as an assistant to one of the main producers. I’ve worked there for two years and my boss loved me like a daughter.
“Alex! How are you?” The front desk lady, Kara asked a smile on her face. But before I could think up a reply for my crappy day the phone rang and she had to answer it. Her face told me we could talk later.
“Alex! There you are, do you know if I have an appointment with Felix today?” My boss, Mr. Brown asked me when I walked into his office and stashed my bag in the cubby hole he had cleared for my things. I grabbed my work things that was already in there and frowned, concentrating in my thoughts.
“I think your appointment is at 2:30. Yep, right here in the book. You better get going it’s in Winter Park.” I checked my notes and gave him a smile. Mr. Brown stood up quickly stacked some papers into his briefcase and kissed my forehead.
“You,” He sighed and smiled, “are a life saver. What would I do without you?”
“Well you wouldn’t be here that’s for sure.” I teased, Mr. Brown gave me a rueful look but still smiled, and he was good humored like that and got my sense of humor. He was only thirty-seven but looked in his late forties from all of this stress.
“Yes, well, don’t lollygag while I’m gone. I want you to keep track of my phone calls and remind me of anything important, don’t go chatting with anyone. I need my best employee on my case. Okay?” He pointed at me, serious again. I nodded and sat down in his chair.
“I’ll be here to catch the calls and organize somewhat. Even though I’m not an organized type of gal, but I’ll be fine. You will be late!” I shooed him off and sat back. Life at this record company was good, I once was in the same room as Jennifer Lopez, and it was sweet.
The day went by quickly and at 7:30 I clocked out ready to go home. It was a Friday and next Wednesday was the last day of school. But what I didn’t know was that I was going to be totally surprised tomorrow. My life would change forever.

Zayn’s POV:
Once 8:30 came around, I was getting my make-up finished and both Louis and Liam were kicking around a ball, “Z, why don’t you come and play with us?” Liam asked, kicking the ball again, back to Louis.
“Not now, Liam,” I said, feeling grumpy for no very good reason. I felt the pre-show jitters starting to kick in like usual, but I knew it would subside once the show started.
“Niall, come on, you’ve got to get changed! It’s almost time to go,” I heard Harry say in the dressing rooms. Niall gave a muffled reply and Harry came backstage. I rubbed my forehead, developing a headache.
Once during the concert I remembered seeing this girl during one of our last songs ‘Stole My Heart’. I was caught so off guard that I didn’t realize I was staring until she looked right back at me. I saw her eyes and felt like melting, my knees going weak. I almost missed my solo.
There is no other place I would rather be

As we lay on the ground I’ll put my arms around you
And we can stay here tonight
I sang and realized that my gaze kept drifting back to the girl. I felt distracted and sluggish. After the concert Louis asked me about it, “What happened out there, mate? During “Stole My Heart’?” He asked, frowning and crossing his arms over his striped shirt.
“I-I don’t actually know. I saw this girl, she saw me too and I- I don’t know. But when I figure it out, you’ll be the first to know, Lou.” I rubbed my neck with a cold cloth to get rid of the sweat.
Alex’s POV:
Zoe and I piled into her car with Justin, her boyfriend. “Okay, let’s go!” I’d dressed up into a loose blue top, gray skinny jeans, grey converse and a cross-chest bag with my wallet, phone, iPod (something I never went anywhere without), and sunglasses. Checking that we were all ready I buckled up and we all drove off to our destination.
Once we were seated twenty-five minutes later I was surprised by the amazing seats. “How did you get these?” I asked over the chatter of the sold-out concert. Zoe turned to me and leaned away from Justin.
“My Aunt’s husband’s nephew works here as an electrician,” She shouted grinning. Yes, well that was very confusing and didn’t explain how she could exactly afford it. Maybe there was a discount for crew members, but it had to be at least 200$-300$ per seat. We sat right by the walk-way of the stage, if I pushed forward a bit an d got my way up close I could stand right where One Direction would be singing and dancing. I had to admit they were amazing seats, and if someone like The Wanted were playing I’d probably be going nuts like everyone in this crowd was.
I nodded trying to seem like I totally understood but I didn’t. I’m guessing it’s like a cousin-in-law who she was close to? I wasn’t going to try and figure it out; I was already getting a headache.
When the show started all five boys came on stage and asked for some noise. The noise didn’t stop the entire show. I heard some songs that I had heard on the radio once or twice like ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, ‘One Thing’, and ‘Up All Night’. But most of them were unfamiliar and I felt like my eardrums were about to burst. I should put my headphones in but that would be rude.
Zoe had gotten her special wink from Liam of all others. The only reason I knew his name was because Zoe gushed it out. What caught my attention was what the darker one, Zayn I think, looked like. He seems less enthused about what was going on. His brown eyes held what looked like boredom and loneliness. The only reason I realized this was because he came by and seemed to stair for a second without singing, but then caught his composer again and went back to singing. I frowned but didn’t dwell.
After the concert I grabbed my bag at my waist and checked through it, iPod. . .check, wallet . . . check, sunglasses . . . check, phone . . . wait, where was my phone? I checked again, it wasn’t there. I felt like panicking but forced myself to stay calm and a level head. I walked over to the nearest security guard and said, “I lost my phone,” after I told Zoe I’d meet her at the car later.
“Sure you did,” he rolled his eyes like he didn’t believe me. What was with this guy? I looked at him.
“Yeah, I did its gone.” I stated, I spoke like it should be obvious. I didn’t lie a lot. My phone was gone.
“What does it look like?” The guy asked after a long seemingly painful sigh. I felt like rolling my eyes in disdain but didn’t.
I described it to him. A purple cover over a Nexus S cell phone with a screensaver of The Wanted on it, nothing different from any other phone, the guard sent something through and told me they would look and get in contact with me when they could.
I gave them Zoe’s number and left. Hoping my phone would be okay and no pervert or something had stolen it. I didn’t even know how it was stolen I didn’t even take it out at all. I don’t think it fell out because the zipper was closed. Oh well, it was still gone. What could I do about it except for wait and see if it would show up?

Chapter 3
Alex’s POV:
The next morning Zoe got a call from the Amway Center saying something about my phone. She called me right when I woke up at 7:30. “Hey, you need to go down the Amway Center; I guess they found your phone. Want me to come?” She asked eagerly when I got the phone from dad.
“No, I’ve got it, no work today.” I yawned and sat up in bed.
“Okay, call when you get your phone back, talk to you later.” She hung up and I was left with a beeping cell phone. I closed the flap (dad is so old school), and got out of bed. I gave dad his phone back and went to take a shower. I’d gotten home at midnight last night but nobody really cared both Sera and dad was out by then.
After I was dressed in blue jean short shorts, a green tank top with a large shirt over it that hung over one shoulder and my signature low-top grey converse, I got into my car and drove off.
The place was pretty empty because nothing major was going on until 5 with a Magic basketball game. I went to the security door and the guy I’d spoke to last night was there. He looked bored and tired, like this was the last place he wanted to be. It probably was.
“You are in for a surprise today, young lady,” he said sounding genuine and human for the first time.
“Great, now can I get my phone?” I asked impatiently, it was only 8:45. I wanted to get it go back home and SLEEP. I only had seven hours of sleep, I needed NINE!!!
Zayn’s POV:
I sat in my dressing room with the cell phone I’d found. I hadn’t messed with it. Even if the other boys wanted to pry, it just seemed like a stalker and pervert. I’d turned the phone off and hadn’t touched it since. Even if Liam said I’d slept with it.
I didn’t know who the girl was just that she was obviously a girl, by the purple rubber cover and The Wanted screensaver.
I’d been walking around late into the night thinking about that girl I’d seen. I tried to remember details, something just felt odd, like I needed to know who she was or y curiosity would overwhelm me, and I was close. I needed to know her name so bad! I didn’t know why though. I ran my hand through my hair taking in the cool breeze. Florida was beautiful, but the heat and humidity really took a toll on you in the end. But that night it was nice.
I sat in the grass behind the Amway, nobody walked past, and it was 3 in the morning. I thought back. Bright blue-green eyes but that didn’t seem like the right way to describe them they were way too bright, brown hair that was all wavy, curly and straight in one, with a red hue and blonde highlights, all natural. Her face had a natural beauty that didn’t need make-up to make it look better, the high cheekbones made her look sharp and she had perfect tan skin, like she was in the sun a lot. But what had really stuck him was her boredom; she didn’t seem to be having any fun. She’d looked to this other attractive girl who was leaning against a large teen guy with total annoyance but love, must have been her sister or best friend. They did look a bit alike but I mean this girl was . . . beautiful.
That was when I saw the phone on the grass by a tree a few feet away.
Now I sat alone twisting the phone in my hand. I felt nervous and jitter, then the owner of the phone came into the room.
Alex’s POV:
When I was escorted into a dressing room that had no sign just a barren door I was a bit cautious. “Come on, get your phone,” The guard’s voice was bored again.
I walked in and caught my breath; it was one of the boy’s from One Direction, Zayn, and the one that stared at me. And he did it again. He stopped spinning my phone and stared at me.
“My phone please,” I stated, but my throat was dry and I felt tingly.
“How do I know it’s really your phone?” he asked looking at me still, but with less amazement and more playfulness.
“It’s my phone,” I piped up; this guy wasn’t giving me my phone.
“Fine, a quiz then; what is the screensaver?” He asked in the accent that drove so many girls crazy, and it was working in his favor. That’s not fair! He has an accent!
“The Wanted, the last person I texted was Zoe my best friend and my first contact is my Dad. There is also a picture of my mom.” I said, crossing my arms, keys jingling in my hands.
Zayn’s POV:
I was so nervous and I realized that this girl was easily annoyed, but very attractive and seemed smart. She was tense and looked tired. Why wouldn’t she be? She was out until midnight at our concert and I’d woke her up early.
“What’s your name?” I asked, feeling so happy that my curiosity would be quenched.
“Alexandra, you are?” She raised an eyebrow and held her hand out, obviously for the phone but I shook her hand.
“Zayn Malik, your phone,” I handed it over now I realized I had no reason to keep her here. But I didn’t want her to leave, the room felt comfortable and like home now, but a minute ago it was cold.
She grabbed it and turned it on, “Thanks, at least some pervert didn’t find it. Even if I’m not so sure about you,” I saw her smile a bit and my heart started to pound. What is going on?
I couldn’t help but grin back at her, “Yes well, would you like to hang out? I could take you to breakfast and you can realize that I’m not such a pervert after all. “I offered. I saw her eyebrows shoot up. It must not have been every day that a celebrity asked her out.
Alex’s POV:
Did Zayn Malik just ask me out? I thought, totally numb with shock. I’d just come here for my phone, not a date. “Um, I guess,” I found myself saying. Zayn nodded and jumped up seeming full of energy. “Amazing!” he rubbed his hands together and smiled huge. He wore jeans, a short sleeve black t-shirt and a leather jacket over, with regular shoes. He looked almost normal with a bit of scruff on his chin. “Okay come on,” He said and held the door open for me. I walked out. What had I just gotten myself into?

Sorry you guys, my laptop is broken and I had three weeks worth of this on it and so now I'm just gonna wing it. I'm sooo sorry!!! :( I feel soooo bad!! :(
Alex's POV
We had a great time, but before we left Zayn grabbed a ratty cap and sunglasses so nobody would recognize him. We went to Denny's for breakfast and the waitress was around my age and got all jittery and excited. Wow, people had the weirdest obsession.
After breakfast Zayn asked for a tour of the city and we walked around for hours. I showed him the places I knew, which weren't very many places, I didn't live in downtown Orlando.
It was 3:30 by the time we got back to the Amway Center.
Zayn's POV
I had the best time, my brain wasn't even catching up with me by the time Alex and I got back to the Amway Center it was getting late. We stood near the back entrance where I had a key and the shade of the building cast us both into the shadows.
"I had fun, Alexandra," I smiled, using her full name.
"Call me Alex, for the millionth time," She said, annoyed.
"But Alexandra is such a pretty name, it goes great with you," I said leaning close, I took of my hat and ran my hand through my hair.
"Thank my mother," She said light-hearted.
"I will if I ever see her, which means I have to see you again," I took one step closer and kissed her on the cheek. A red blush clouded her cheeks and I smiled as she looked down, bitting her lip.
"Sure, but you can't thank my mom, she's gone, she died years ago." Alex stood up a bit straighter and ran her hand through her hair, pulling herself back together.
"Oh," I said sadly, "I'm sorry," I scratched the back of my neck. Alex's expression changed to exasperated.
She sighed, "Don't be, it's not your fault you didn't know, you barelly know me."
Our conversation was suddenly interupted by a teenage girl screaming, "AHHH!!! ZAYN MALIK!!!" I turned in the direction the shreak had come from and saw three teenagers running towards us.
"Come on!" I said urgently and took the key to the door out of my pocket while running towards the door and grabbing Alex's hand. We made it to the door and the three girls were about 30 yards away, I put the key into the lock and opened the door quickly, hurding Alex in and following close behind. I shut the door and locked it, breathing heavy, adrenaline coursing through my veins.
"What was that?" Alex asked clutching her throat with one hand and leaning against the wall wiith the other.
"Crazed fans," I whispered and smiled.
"Um, wow?" Said Alex, she seemed a bit off-guard.
"Yeah," I smiled, and took off my sunglasses, "Oh, I dropped my hat," I pouted.
Alex mocked me, "Awe, poor Zayn lost a ratty hat, it's not like you don't have millions of dollars," she grabbed my jacket and smiled, bitting her lip. It was so cute.
"Well, that was a special hat," I smiled, grabbing her hands over my jacket.
"Oh really?" She asked, her eyebrows shooting up.
"Yes, it was the hat I wore on our first date, love." I smiled and kissed her softly.
Alex's POV
I was being kissed by Zayn Malik! It was wierd, and I really liked it. "Mhh-mm." Someone cleared their throat from behind us and we pulled away slowly. I smiled and looked into Zayn's eyes before we both turned to see who was interupting us.
It was the security gaurd froom earlier.
I blushed deeply and turned away from him.
Zayn said, "Hey, cold you see if the limo could come around?"
"Sure," The security gaurd walked away. He walked away and Zayn took my hand as we followed.
The limo came around and Zayn said, "I'm going to take you to our hotel room so you can meet the other boys. We're going to hang there for a little then we can come back here and you can get your car, is that okay?"
"Sure," I smiled and we were off to meet the rest of One Direction.
