Roland Smith here, checking in on this fabulous board for the first time! I'm the author of the Storm Runners series, TENTACLES, and many other novels. I've been lurking on this board for months and I can't tell you how pleased I am to step out from the shadows and introduce myself.
As you know Peter Lerangis's new book THE DEAD OF NIGHT will be out March 6th. I can hardly wait to get his book into my hands! I won't be writing on that day, I'll be reading Peter's book! And speaking of THE DEAD OF NIGHT, I'm thrilled to reveal the title and cover of my contribution to 39 Clues. It's called SHATTERPROOF and will be out on September 4th.
In this book, the Cahills are hunting for and being hunted by the Vespers in five different countries and it's not going well for them - the hostages are in serious peril, and Erasmus is . . . We'll, I've said enough.
But I'm curious. What do you think happens to the beleaguered Cahills in THE DEAD OF NIGHT and SHATTERPROOF? I'll be monitoring your responses from my secret Madrigal hideout somewhere in Oregon. I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

Well, at the end of 'A King's Ransom' Vesper One asks Amy and Dan for a stale orb. And a stale orb is really an anagram for an astrolabe. An astrolabe is an ancient mechanism that measures the stars, and is kinda like a clock, but with a thousand uses. The town hall of Czech, Prague has a giant astrolabe like a clock tower. But it's set up differently, the horizon is portrayed to the south (honestly, I'm not sure what that means). Damien Vesper was looking for something that was in pieces. Gideon's ring is in the shape of a gear. The Wyoming twins took Atticus to Turkey at some abandoned Vesper place or something. Isabel Kabra's mother's maiden name was Vesper. Vesper One is calling himself A.J.T. (Aruther Trent, Dan and Amy's dead dad) and has a burn on his arm.

The cover is a dead giveaway. A diamond? Jewel? Well that's what Vesper One is going to make Amy and Dan steal, for sure. The laser that fires into the diamond........there's a secret inside of it. Better start thinking about who Vesper 3 could be. Wait a moment................THERES WRITING ON THE DIAMOND!!!!!!! I SEE IT!!!!!!! Bad choice Roland. Too much info too soon. Oh, well. It's to my benefit. BTW, can you make the book come out earlier?

yay!!! i totally can't wait! btw, hm... i'm not really sure what will happen. personally, i think they're going to have to kepp doing whatever V1 says until they find out where/who he(/she) is. (cough cough perhaps aurthur trent cough) however, amy and dan are not inexperienced or naive... so i think they will figure it out soon, after which the hostages, including atticus will be rescued. i think the dead of night it about constellations, or the zodiac, considering they title, and the back of the cahill vs. vesper cards (forming part of the zodiac) and i think shatterproof could be about diamond, the crown jewels or perhaps even another faous gemstone, consdiering the picture and the fact that diamonds aret he hardest known natural resource. :) anyway, i can't wait to find out!! :) good luck everyone! and happy hunting!

Thanks! The cover looks very intriguing! I'm excited to read it! Could you create your agent card because I would really like to add it? I want to add all the authors cards that I can! I believe that Vesper 1 is Arther Trent, and I wonder in which book he'll reveal himself, or wether he is or isn't V1. I hope you post more and more often; in fact it'd be awesome if more of the authors posted more, so we could kind of get to know their personalities without knowing them directly. Give us a sense of who they are! But I can understand that it's hard being famous and people ask a lot of you.

Yes, there is a code on the Diamond and it appears to be Magellan - and the Heist is Marco Polo, not Magellan. There are a lot of good theories and ideas on here - Agent brains are smoking from working overtime. BUT - they're just theories. Remember that. There is no evidence that Erasmus is dead, and I really hope he's not a Vesper. Just keep calm, everyone, and don't let your excitement over the next two books cause you to believe everything that is written on here. Otherwise, it will be EASY PEASY for a Vesper to get into your head and before you know it instead of "Trust No One" you will be spilling your guts to a Vesper Mole! Beware - NOT the Madrigals - but the VESPERS!!!
