Roland Smith here, checking in on this fabulous board for the first time! I'm the author of the Storm Runners series, TENTACLES, and many other novels. I've been lurking on this board for months and I can't tell you how pleased I am to step out from the shadows and introduce myself.
As you know Peter Lerangis's new book THE DEAD OF NIGHT will be out March 6th. I can hardly wait to get his book into my hands! I won't be writing on that day, I'll be reading Peter's book! And speaking of THE DEAD OF NIGHT, I'm thrilled to reveal the title and cover of my contribution to 39 Clues. It's called SHATTERPROOF and will be out on September 4th.
In this book, the Cahills are hunting for and being hunted by the Vespers in five different countries and it's not going well for them - the hostages are in serious peril, and Erasmus is . . . We'll, I've said enough.
But I'm curious. What do you think happens to the beleaguered Cahills in THE DEAD OF NIGHT and SHATTERPROOF? I'll be monitoring your responses from my secret Madrigal hideout somewhere in Oregon. I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

Knowing Dan and Amy they are probably going to face some danger, after all, danger almost always follows them. They might meet new friends along the way. They might have a chance to figure out what the guardian is and what it protects. and maybe they can rescue their beloved family members. Did you know that there is a company that makes lockers called Vesper? I don't know if it's a lead, but Vesper Co. is on all the lockers of my school.
We are not five diffrent branches. We are not just lucian, tomas, ekats, janus and madrigals, We are cahills and we are all in danger!

Here are some possibilities for Shatterproof:
1) The Vespers probably saw Nellie pick up the lizard, yet the'yre smart. They would've easily figured out why Nellie did that. But if so, than why did they let her get it in the picture? Maybe the hostages aren't in Argentina, and they put the lizard in there on purpose to throw the Cahills off track!
2) The Vespers are very powerful, right? Well, maybe they have the power to make a volcano erupt! Like Vesuvius! And Sandy Bancroft was right there, watching Erasmus, Hamilton, and Jonah! And even if not, then the Vespers might punish the Cahills for investigating Pompeii.
It is a mystery..........................................

to those who don't magellan is i'll clarfy :
1.a magellan is not a what he a who he (a little history) was a portuguese explorer. He was born in sabrosa, in northern Portugal, and served King Charles I of spain in search of a westward route to the "spice island" (modern maluku island in Indonesia). 2.Magellan's expedition of 1519–1522 became the first expedition to sail from the Atlantic Ocean into the Pacific Ocean (then named "peaceful sea" by Magellan; the passage being made via the strait of magellan), and the first to cross the Pacific. It also completed the first circumnavigation of the Earth, although Magellan himself did not complete the entire voyage, being killed during the battle of mactan in the Philippines.(woohoo pilipinos rule but even my ancestors killed magellan here how it happen:

But, why would Arthur put his kids through that? Is he that cruel hearted, or married Hope to set her up for death? Plus, the burnt arm means he was in a fire, and the 9-year-old fire could`ve done it. In the black book of buieds secrets it says that he has vesper ties.

the dead of night is about... 1 ian goes to find his mother after reading the page he found at the fire she tells him that no one really likes him (in other words) and we also find out that Ian hates driving cars because it makes you stressed and you get a leg cramp oh and saladin gets a mouse and puts it in front of Ian and he shrieks; get that thing out of here! (so dan if you have menaged to get enough time to read the message board and Ian's new post this could be revenge... which you did not here about from me! and if ian is reading this tell Amy! and i will stop making your life like this...but trust me i'm a lucian if you don't it will become aliving hell!). 2 they kidnapped atticus and he goes to this cave hide out and it blows up then casper and his sister get a call from v1 and then amy snatches the phone tells him off then v1 hangs up and sends a text.
here is the blurb: when 7 members of his family were kidnapped by vespers dan cahill knew he was up against an immpossibly powerful enemy. and dan knew the odds were that some of his family members wouldn't make it.
but even as dan steels himself to these facts the unthinkable happens. the vespers capture a helpless bystander-dans best friend atticus. with an innocent life on the line, dan kicks offf a frantic hunt that will take him from the back alleys of prague to the rock caves of turkey. but Dan better find atticus fast. if he doesn't his best friend will surely die.
btw i would love to um.. how do i put this? like to help write the 39 clue series i know you are all thinking WHAT! NO! WAY! but go to my site AMY AND IAN YES OR NO? and read my amian it will give you some thought on how i write of course if you ay yes i would send it to yu before publishing it and you could maybe pass it on? plz just give me a chance i may be 11 but...plz!

Welcome! I have also read most of the replies and wow, I've got to say, I never would have thought about some of the ideas I read. I wonder how close some of the ideas were... I have a few ideas of my own that I would like to bring forward. First of all a question: where has Ned gone?
1. I saw a thread saying something about Amian dying. The person that made the thread announced that they had read all six Cahill vs Vesper books and that people die. Of course people are going to die in this series but by looking at the choice of words for the title... it had me thinking... maybe something happends to Amy and Evan, Jake or Ian saves her by dying or something. Just a thought.
2. There has been a big debate about who Vesper One is. In my opinion, I think Vesper One is AJT (aka father of Amy and Dan) It makes sense!
I probably will be back soon.

Dude a vesper is a nightly catholic prayer. Or was it a morning prayer, I think it was nightly. But anyway that's just because it's a last name. Thats why the vespers are called the vespers.

Hmmm.. I'm not anywhere NEAR the cahills VS Vespers series, because I finished book one YESTERDAY! Still, is that the hope diamond on the cover, or something else...?
HIYAH! I wish I knew karate or fencing or something because I want to defend myself against the *gulp* vespers, but apparently I don't. wahhhhhh!!!!!!
