Roland Smith here, checking in on this fabulous board for the first time! I'm the author of the Storm Runners series, TENTACLES, and many other novels. I've been lurking on this board for months and I can't tell you how pleased I am to step out from the shadows and introduce myself.
As you know Peter Lerangis's new book THE DEAD OF NIGHT will be out March 6th. I can hardly wait to get his book into my hands! I won't be writing on that day, I'll be reading Peter's book! And speaking of THE DEAD OF NIGHT, I'm thrilled to reveal the title and cover of my contribution to 39 Clues. It's called SHATTERPROOF and will be out on September 4th.
In this book, the Cahills are hunting for and being hunted by the Vespers in five different countries and it's not going well for them - the hostages are in serious peril, and Erasmus is . . . We'll, I've said enough.
But I'm curious. What do you think happens to the beleaguered Cahills in THE DEAD OF NIGHT and SHATTERPROOF? I'll be monitoring your responses from my secret Madrigal hideout somewhere in Oregon. I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

Well I'm guessing someone will die in Dead of the Night unfortunately. I got this from Peter Lerangis' thread where he said Amy and Dan needed to sacrifice a hostage :( I'm hoping we'll see more hints in both books that give us clues to who Vesper One is! And that we hear more about Arthur too!

Am I the first one to post??? Anyways, your book looks awesome! I think that Atticus is put in the same room as the cahills.
and is it a coincedince that in the end of book 2, Nellie gets a piece of glass and the title of this book is: SHATTERPROOF?
I also think that a hostage might die.....

This cover is sooo awesome! I was just on Amazon and they had no cover for the book, but here it is! WAY COOL GUYS! Thanks so much for the reveal!!! I can't believe we will have to wait ANOTHER six months for book 4! It's going to be EXCRUCIATING to wait that long!!!

*sees Shatterproof cover*; Reaction: Coooool! Really cool! I love the cover!
*sees release date of September 4th*; Reaction: Wait, what? I thought it was going to be released in August, which is far away enough as it is! It looks like Shatterproof is going to be released about six months after The Dead of Night. Why? 39 Clues are usually released in half that time! Unless it turns out that this new book is twice as long as normal 39 Clues book, I am really upset about this. (Based on the picture, it will be a normal size book, though. Maybe even shorter than usual.) Fortunately, that Trinity book that's being released in May should hold me over for a couple of months. I don't know about everyone else, though.
I'm happy to hear that we get to visit five countries in one book, though. :) As for the hostages and Erasmus, I hoe they're all right in the end.
Has anyone else noticed the numbers and letters in the diamond? G3 M1 A2 A7 E4 N8 L5 L6. Does anyone have any idea what they could mean?

Hi Roland Smith!!! I do believe I've read your books before, borrowed from the library :). YOU'VE BEEN ON HERE FOR MONTHS!?!?!? Well, uh, ahah, welcome? OMG!!! MARCH 6th SEEMS SO CLOSE YET SO FAR AWAY!!! I've got two birthdays to go to before and after that day :). Cooll!!! Your writing a book!!!! Awesome, mind losing cover!!!! WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! You guys must be trying to put me in an insane asylum, because I'm going CRAZY waiting for the Dead of Night, and after that comes out and I read it in an hour, I'll go CRAZY waiting for Shatterproof! *wails* I think a hostage is gonna escape, and a hostage is going to die (possibly the same hostage).
