I don't know, destressing techniques are as different for each person as snowflakes. I suppose whenever I get nervous I sit in the shower. And I don't mean a bath, the water has to be moving. Then I just close my eyes. The hard part is not thinking of anything related to the 'stress inducer,' in your case, the spelling bee. Last of all, DON'T worry. Worry is like a rocking chair; it keeps you busy without getting you anywhere.
